2019 Yamaha MT-15 in Indonesia – RM10,162

After Thailand, the next ASEAN nation to receive the 2019 Yamaha MT-15 naked sports is Indonesia, at a price of 34.95 million Rupiah (RM10,162). While Yamaha Indonesia already has other 150 cc naked sports models in the catalogue such as the Xabre (known as the M-Slaz in Thailand) and the Vixion, the MT-15 comes with its own unique style.

Carrying design cues from the bigger bikes in the range – the MT-07, MT-09 and MT-10 – the MT-15 comes with an upright seating position, combined seat (the M-Slaz comes with split rider and pillion seat) and humped tank. Aside from that, the MT-15 also comes with a high level of standard equipment.

The engine on the MT-15 is identical to the unit used in the Yamaha R-15, a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill fed by EFI and displacing 155 cc. Mated to a six-speed transmission equipped with slipper and assist clutch, the MT-15 puts out 19 hp at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm.

In front, the MT-15 props up the front end with upside-down forks with a monoshock holding up the rear. Both front and rear brakes use a single disc and the MT-15 rolls on 17-inch wheels shod in 110/70 rubber in front and 140/70 at the back.

Fuel is kept in a 10.4-litre tank and weight is said to be 133 kg. Inside the cockpit a monochrome LCD instrument displays all the necessary information and LED lighting is used for the head and tail lights.

As a basis for comparison, the 2019 Yamaha MT-15 retails at 34.95 million Rupiah (RM10,162), a touch higher than the Xabre at 30.7 million Rupiah (RM8,923) and Vixion R at 29.5 million Rupiah (RM8,575). In Indonesia the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R15 goes for 35.9 million Rupiah (RM10,436) compared to its Malaysian price of RM11,988.
