2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT in Malaysia – RM58,888

New addition to Yamaha’s 900 cc range of motorcycles is the 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT, CKD Japan, priced at RM58,888 without road tax, insurance or registration. The Tracer 900 GT joins the MT-09 naked sports and the base model Tracer 900.

The Tracer 900 GT comes with the same liquid-cooled inline-triple mill displacing 847 cc and producing 115 PS at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. Power gets to the ground via a six-speed and chain final drive.

With the GT spec – GT standing for Gran Turismo – the Tracer has several items fitted as standard such as a quickshifter, heated bar grips and cruise control. Also on the specifications list is a TFT-LCD display, centre stand and redesigned manually-adjustable front screen that provides better rider comfort and wind protection at speeds up to 160 km/h.

Compared to the Tracer 900, the Tracer 900 GT is now narrower with a reduction in bar width by 16.5 mm and an overall decrease in width by 100 mm with mirror stems increased by 30 mm for better rearward visibility. Seat height on the Tracer 900 GT has two positions – 850 mm and 865 mm.

Suspension is with fully-adjustable upside-down forks in front and and preload-adjustable monoshock with remote adjuster. Along with the all-new suspension, the Tracer 900 GT also comes with an increase in stability with 60 mm increase in wheelbase length as well as ride modes and traction control.

There are two colour options for the 2019 Tracer 900 GT – grey and matte blue. Deliveries of the Tracer 900 GT are currently taking place and are expected to appear on authorised Hong Leong Yamaha dealer showrooms by the Chinese New Year.

Local competition for the Yamaha Tracer GT includes the three-cylinder Triumph XCX at approximately RM74,900, the Ducati Multistrada 950 at approximately RM85,900 RM and the BMW Motorrad F 850 GS at RM79,500.
