2017-2019 Porsche Boxster, Cayman: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 14,400 model-year 2017-19 Porsche 718 Boxster, 718 Boxster S, 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman S sports cars; model-year 2018-19 718 Boxster GTS sports cars; and model-year 2018-19 718 Cayman GTS sports cars

The Problem: In the event of a crash, a cross-member may detach from the luggage compartment bracket, possibly causing a fuel leak that, in the presence of an ignition source, can increase the risk of fire.

The Fix: Dealers will secure the cross-member with additional rivets for free.

What Owners Should Do: Porsche will begin notifying owners April 21. Owners can call the automaker at 800-767-7243, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
