Share Of Plug-In EV Car Sales In New Zealand Hit 1.8% This Past Quarter

New Zealand approaching 2% market share for plug-ins

The volume of plug-in electric car sales in New Zealand is rather low, but the proportion to ICE is growing noticeably. After March, market share of new sales increased to 1.8%, compared to 1.4% for the year 2018.

EV Sales Blog reports 149 sales in March and 469 in the first three months, out of which more than one-quarter falls on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

Interestingly, Hyundai Kona Electric is 2nd best, followed by the Tesla Model X. With two models (Kona Electric and IONIQ Electric), Hyundai has a chance to become #1 brand, currently having 27% share YTD.
