Perfection Correction tested 34 paint protectants so you don't have to

Have you ever wanted to wax or ceramic-coat your car’s paint, but didn’t know what product to pick? Considering they range from 10s to 100s of dollars, there must be a difference, right? Well, Scott H. from Perfection Correction in Tyler, Texas (your #1 source for exotic car detailing in Texas) did the hard work for us.

Scott used 34 different products on one black hood, then let that hood sit for 11 months of Texas weather. He notes that the weather has been wide-ranging this past year, from snow to rain to the merciless southern sun. After a quick soap and spray, things start to become clear.

It looks like Nu Finish holds up well, as does CQuartz UK and Kisho X-03. Even with the low light we can see the water beading off those squares. Others don’t perform as well, but this little video guide can help you pick a price point and run with it. For example, a package from CQuartz UK on Amazon is about $90, Nu Finish once-a-year is about $20 and the Turtle Wax Ice, which held up surprisingly well, is only $15.

Check out the video above and let us know which ones you’ve had good luck with in the comments section.
