Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR Debuts in Production Form

At last year’s GTI Meeting at Wörthersee, Volkswagen debuted a road-going concept inspired by its TCR race car. Today, Volkswagen is debuting the production version, which is now available for order in Europe.

The model delivers 286 hp from a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine. Volkswagen claims a 0-62 mph time of 5.6 seconds. The engine pairs to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Top speed is 155 mph in standard form, but an available V-Max upgrade brings it up to 161 mph.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR features a front-axle differential lock, perforated brake disks, a special TCR roof spoiler, and a rear diffuser. It also receives LED headlights, a front splitter, sill extensions, black mirror caps, and 18-inch wheels.

As part of a package, buyers can opt for 19-inch wheels, the V-Max upgrade, and a sports version of the rear damping system and the DCC adaptive chassis control system. Another package brings along differently styled 19-inch wheels on race-ready semi-slick tires, as well as the other upgrades from the first package. Other available features include a black roof, honeycomb decor foil for the side panels, and carbon mirror caps.

Inside the cabin, look for sport seats with a special red racing pattern. There are also seat belts with red edging, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a red mark at 12 o’clock.
