Watch: Sprint car flies into the stands in Ohio

Fans watching a heat race as part of the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions at Atomic Speedway in Ohio Friday night got a bit too close to the action.

During the third heat race a Sprint car was involved in an accident in turns three and four. The car climbed the wall, tore down part of the fencing and exited the track, striking a grandstand holding fans.

Neither the driver nor fans reported any major injuries. The incident caused a considerable amount of fence damage, forcing All Star Circuit of Champions officials to cancel the remaining portion of the program. The 37th edition of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Indy Metal Finishing will come to a close Saturday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.
