McLaren remove BAT logos for Australian GP

McLaren have joined Ferrari in dropping any references to tobacco companies for this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

Last week Ferrari announced that ‘Mission Winnow’ will not feature on their cars in Melbourne as it is part of the Philip Morris group and therefore controveens Australia’s ban on tobacco advertising.

Instead the Scuderia are running a special anniversary livery to mark their “90th anniversary in Melbourne”.

Now McLaren have also dropped their British American Tobacco logos.

Earlier this year McLaren announced a new sponsorship deal with BAT that they said focuses “solely on BAT’s potentially reduced risk products and grounded in technology and innovation.”

However, given that Ferrari were forced to drop ‘Mission Winnow’, BAT have reportedly voluntarily decided to remove their logos from the McLaren.

The Woking team will instead carry convenience store 7-Eleven branding for the Australian Grand Prix.

BAT’s ‘A Better Tomorrow’ branding will be back in Bahrain.
