NASCAR bans drivers and team members from betting on races

NASCAR has officially entered the sports betting landscape for the 2019 season and beyond as it revealed on Monday afternoon a policy that prohibits team owners, drivers, crew members and officials from gambling on events.

NASCAR listed penalties for betting that could include indefinite suspension or termination and/or a fine of $150,000-$200,000.

The policy was put together with Sportrader Integrity Services. This is a byproduct of the Supreme Court of the United States allowing in May individual states to decide if they will allow sports betting.

In October, Dover International Speedway became the first track that hosts NASCAR to introduce an at-track betting service.
