2019 Yamaha FZS-FI launched in India – RM5,533

While the Yamaha FZ150i has been soldiering on a long while in Malaysia, India gets the 2019 Yamaha FZS-FI, priced at 97,000 rupees (RM5,533). This is in comparison to the launch of the Yamaha YZF-R15 locally last year, while neighbouring Indonesia gets the M-Slaz, new Vixion and the MT-15.

For the India market, the FZS-FI is a third generation model, coming with rather more modern styling compared to the previous FZS. Compared to the FZ150i, the FZS-FI is dressed in more aggressive bodywork, with a larger tank and broader seat.

However, the air-cooled single-cylinder power plant on the FZS-FI produces less power than the FZ150i and other 150 cc models in the Yamaha range. Yamaha claims power output at 13 hp at 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, and there is no variable valve actuation with only five-speeds in the gearbox.

The FZS-FI does come with single-channel ABS on the front brake, while braking at the back is also done with a hydraulic disc. Rolling on 17-inch wheels with 100/80 and 140/60 rubber on the front and back, respectively, the FZ-FI also coems with LED lighting and an LCD instrument panel.

Fuel for the 2019 Yamaha FZS-FI is carried in a 12.8-litre tank, with suspension using telescopic forks in front and rear monoshock. Brake callipers are by Brembo’s house brand, Bybre and weight is listed at 137 kg, with three colour options.
