Kawasaki showcases its upcoming electric & hybrid motorcycles

The electric motorcycle could be offered as an entry-level urban commuter with the electric motor producing around 15 BHP.

Kawasaki is said to have showcased its upcoming electric & hybrid motorcycles during the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance race. According to reports, the prototypes of both all-electric and hybrid motorcycles raced past the home straight, allowing spectators to view and even listen to both bikes.

In terms of design, the all-electric motorcycle had a naked streetfighter stance, in line with the brand’s Z range. The hybrid motorcycle, on the other hand, featured a full fairing similar to the Ninja series. Both motorcycles also came with either EV or HEV stickering on the side panels, clearly indicating their powertrains.

While Kawasaki themselves didn’t reveal any specs of either of the prototypes, reports suggest that the electric motorcycle could be offered as an entry-level urban commuter with the electric motor producing around 15 BHP, positioning it among the 125cc – 250cc equivalent range. Details of the Kawasaki HEV motorcycle aren’t available at this time.

Kawasaki’s electrification plans were delayed due to the pandemic. However, with the prototypes now in their final stages, the Japanese bike maker could unveil the production versions either later this year or in early 2023.
