Kyle Larson holds off Christopher Bell in New Zealand Midget race

Kyle Larson picked up his second Midget victory at Western Springs Speedway in Auckland, New Zealand, in less than a week. He did so by outdueling fellow NASCAR star Christopher Bell in yet another battle between two of the best Midget drivers in the world.

Larson started on the pole and took the lead from Tyler Courtney while Bell worked his way from the back in the 39-lap feature. The race was 39 laps in tribute to the late Bryan Clauson.

Bell was perhaps held up in his pursuit of Larson when eight laps into the race, he made contact with another car and flipped. He restarted from the tail of the field and still made it inside the top five, with 10 laps remaining.

Bell caught a caution with six laps remaining for a spin by Hayden Guptill. Bell capitalized, quickly advanced to second and even took the lead from Larson, but he couldn't hold on to it. Larson retook the lead, and Bell couldn't find enough momentum on the outside to retake the position.
