The heart of the 1970 C10 is an all-new Edelbrock Performer Classic crate engine. The guys didn’t want to build another cookie-cutter LS-swap C10, and the Edelbrock Performer Classic provides period-correct styling with modern performance and reliability. Right out of the crate, this engine makes 310 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque with an 8.5:1 compression ratio on 87 octane pump gas. The Edelbrock Performer Classic is a new 350ci four-bolt main block with cast iron crank shaft and two-piece rear main seal, equipped with Edelbrock Performer heads, hydraulic camshaft, 1.5:1 roller rocker arms, EPS intake manifold, EPS 600cfm carburetor, Elite II Series valve covers, and a long-style water pump. Edelbrock offers this engine with a two-year/unlimited mileage warranty.

The 1970 Chevrolet C10 two-wheel-drive longbed was truly a rare find. Chris and Dylan found the C10 only an hour away from the Fix-a-Flat Performance Garage in Manhattan Beach, California, and better yet, it came from a one-owner family. Being a California truck, it had no serious rust to speak of and was largely untouched. When Forsberg and Hughes dropped the body off at Dominator Street Rods in Tracy, California, the team there was surprised at how straight the body and chassis were. The C10 did still live the life of a truck for 50 years, so there were some dents, dings, and creases to iron out, but the team at Dominator made quick work of those and sent the body back to Chris and Dylan looking better than ever in its new Fix-a-Flat yellow and white two-tone paintjob.

While the body work was being done, the Pro1 drifters set about reinforcing the chassis and sending it off to be powdercoated, along with the positraction-equipped GM 12-bolt rear axle and rear suspension arms. They also gave the front suspension a complete upgrade, utilizing Duralast parts made for the heavier-duty C20 and later model C/K1500 trucks. The upgraded front suspension components allowed the Fix-a-Flat team to run a modern and larger GM truck front disc brake system, and to match out back, they converted the rear brakes to discs, as well. With the new Duralast suspension components, disc brakes, brake pads, brake booster, and master cylinder, the C10 should handle and stop better than it ever did from the factory.

But the engine and chassis aren’t the only upgrades. The Edelbrock crate engine is getting backed up by a Gearstar 700R4 transmission and torque converter. A MagnaFlow exhaust will make the new engine sound as good as it runs. New rolling stock is being bolted on in the form of Method 315 16×8-inch wheels wrapped in Nexen Roadian MTX 265/75-16 mud terrain tires. Couple that with the 2-inch lift, and the Fix-a-Flat 1970 C10 is going to have a mean stance. More cosmetic touches include new bumpers, a new tailgate, new windshield, and new interior with a Rockford Fosgate stereo.

“Just like Fix-a-Flat’s formula over the years, we’re improving this Chevy C10 from the inside out,” said Chad Ellman, marketing manager for Fix-A-Flat. “Enthusiasts don’t have to do anything other than enter the giveaway for a chance to win the Chevy C10, and we can’t wait to give it away as a symbol of our appreciation for our customers over the past 50 years.”
