Celebrity Couple Shares Updates on Their Hudson Valley Home Renovation
Leslie Bibb and Sam Rockwell have been sharing details about the ongoing work at their historic property in upstate New York. The couple purchased the 1750s residence in 2024 and began a full gut renovation the following year. Their recent social media posts highlight steady advancement on key elements of the project, including infrastructure and exterior features.
Property Purchase and Initial Goals
The actors acquired the centuries-old dwelling more than two years ago. From the start, they focused on preserving original charm while adapting the space to their needs. Bibb and Rockwell, who have been together since 2007, described the moment they first saw the home as decisive, noting they knew immediately it was the right property for them.
The residence sits in the Hudson Valley region. The couple currently maintains a base in a New York City apartment on the Lower East Side. They have not yet indicated whether the renovated property will serve primarily as a weekend retreat or become their main residence once work concludes.
Key Renovation Milestones and Infrastructure Decisions
Work on the gut renovation moved forward in 2025. One early priority involved installing an in-ground swimming pool before completing other site work. This timing allowed the team to route septic lines around the new feature without later disruption. Bibb noted the home renovation process was advancing well overall, with porches also under construction at the time of her latest post.
Exterior updates included fresh paint on a large red barn located on the grounds. Bibb expressed strong appreciation for the structure and credited designer Shawn Henderson with the color selection. The barn stands out as one of the elements that has drawn particular enthusiasm during the project.
Designer Collaboration and Site Discoveries
Henderson has overseen the entire overhaul. Bibb has referred to him as her partner on the project and has shared that the pair continue to enjoy the process of transforming the historic structure. Earlier updates showed the interior largely stripped to framing in many areas, while original stonework remained in place throughout the home.
During demolition phases, the team uncovered several period details that were retained where possible. These included large fireplaces, exposed wooden beams, oversized windows, and ornate wallpaper in bedrooms. A hidden space within the roof was also found, adding to the list of features preserved or noted during the work.
Progress Documentation and Community Response
Bibb has posted regular updates on Instagram and TikTok since renovation began. Recent images showed construction crews active on site, stacks of materials, newly landscaped areas, and rooms approaching completion. Videos captured multiple work trucks, including equipment from a local excavation company, and confirmed that the entire roof had been replaced along with the addition of new space to the original stone building.
Followers responded positively to the posts. Some suggested the project would suit an HGTV series format. Others highlighted specific visual details such as a tree growing against a brick wall and the combination of the red barn with other landscape elements. Fellow actor Michelle Monaghan commented on the pool area in a lighthearted manner.
Earlier Phases of the Restoration
In April, Bibb shared that the home had been opened up extensively, revealing framing and original materials. She noted small decorative items like frog statues discovered during the process. At that stage, protective coverings were visible on portions of the exterior, and windows had been removed in preparation for new installations.
The couple has emphasized their intent to maintain as many original design elements as feasible. Bibb previously stated that the goal was to fix up the property and create their ideal upstate home while keeping its historic character intact. She encouraged others considering similar projects to begin sooner rather than later.
Images and clips continue to show the transformation of the grounds and structures. Although the home is not yet ready for occupancy, the documented steps indicate ongoing momentum toward that milestone.
