Italdesign to unveil new car at Geneva motor show

Audi-owned styling house Italdesign plans to unveil a new supercar at the Geneva motor show, and a few weeks ahead of its debut, the company has shared a short teaser video that shows a giant wing and not much else. A previous photo, seen below, has suggested that the car may be a coupe.

Since Italdesign has re-entered the world of coachbuilding, it has aimed for the absolute top of the market when it comes to price range. In 2017, Italdesign debuted the Lamborghini Huracan-based Zerouno and followed it up with 50 examples of the Nissan GT-R50 last year, in addition to a roadster version of the Zerouno.

When it comes to production numbers, the 50 Nissan GT-R50 cars that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the model made them Italdesign's most plentiful project, even at $1.4 million apiece. The Zerouno was produced in the single digits, by comparison.

The model that Italdesign will show in Geneva does not appear to be another Zerouno variant, but it's a good bet that it will be based on another Volkswagen Automotive Group vehicle.

The design house plans to introduce a new supercar every year, and Geneva is perhaps the best venue to show off its creations, alongside a number of other boutique automakers and tuners.
