Held this year in Rimini, Italy, the Ducati World Premiere (DWP2020) is where the Borgo Panigale firm shows its 2020 motorcycle range ahead of the EICMA show in Milan. For next year’s riding season, the big reveal of the event is the 2020 Ducati Panigale V2, replacement for the Panigale 959 sports bike.
Powered by a slightly revised version of the 955 cc Superquadro engine, the Panigale V2 draws on DNA from the Panigale V4 superbike in the design of the front cowl and LED DRLs. The Superquadro liquid-cooled, Desmodromic four-valve per cylinder mill puts out 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm.
Claiming a wet weight of 200 kg, the Panigale V2 ties everything together in an aluminium monocouque frame, with power getting to the ground via a six-speed gearbox and up-and-down quickshifter. Suspension in front is fully-adjustable, using Showa BPF forks, while the rear end is held up with a Sachs fully-adjustable monoshock.
Suspension settings have now been biased towards road use, the spring preload at both ends now toned down a little. The same is done with the compression and rebound damping to make things a little more comfortable for the rider.
Big news is the return of the single-sided aluminium swingarm to the smaller of the the Panigale model range. Braking is done by Brembo, with radial-mounted four-piston M4.32 Monobloc callipers in front on 320 mm discs while the back has a two-piston Brembo calliper on 245 mm brake disc, with cornering ABS as standard.
Seat height for the Panigale V2 is set at 845 mm which is normal for track oriented machines, while fuel is carried in a 17-litre tank. Inside the cockpit is a new TFT-LCD colour instrument panel while the centre of gravity is now a little higher.
