Vehicles Affected: Approximately 298,000 model-year 2013-16 Dodge Dart sedans equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions
The Problem: The shifter cable bushing may fail, allowing the shift cable to detach from the transmission, preventing the driver from shifting correctly. Additionally, the vehicle may roll away even if the driver selects Park. Both scenarios increase the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the transmission side shifter cable bushing for free.
What Owners Should Do: Dodge parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners May 31. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
