Vehicles Affected: Approximately 32,800 model-year 2015-19 BMW X6 SUVs equipped with rear-seat lower anchor bars used to secure child-restraint seats
The Problem: The lower anchor bars may become damaged over time when used with a Latch-type, rigid-style connector for a child-restraint system. Damaged lower anchor bars may increase a child’s risk of injury in the event of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will weld a reinforcing bracket to the lower anchor bars and vehicle body for free.
What Owners Should Do: BMW will begin notifying owners Jan. 17, 2020. Owners can call BMW at 800-525-7417, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
