Vehicles Affected: Approximately 4,800 model-year 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUVs
The Problem: The driver-side floormats may inadvertently trap the accelerator pedal, increasing the risk of a crash.
Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said it is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.
The Fix: FCA said approximately one-third of the affected Jeeps are in dealer hands, where the driver-side floormats are currently being removed. In the interim, it advises owners to remove the driver-side floormat on their own.
What Owners Should Do: FCA did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
