The Honda Civic facelift made its Thai debut in November last year. Besides the visual updates for the minor change, the FC sedan also received a new Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic paint option and the Honda Sensing suite of driver assist systems for the top variant.
Now, while the Civic Hatchback wasn’t facelifted along with the sedan, globally, Headlightmag reports that the five-door FK hatch will soon be updated in Thailand. The model year 2019 Civic Hatchback is set to get the same Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic colour and Honda Sensing as the sedan, and it will surface in the Land of Smiles sometime in the first quarter of 2019.
The Civic Hatchback was launched in Thailand in March 2017. Unlike the sedan, the hatch does not have a base NA engine and is only available with a 1.5 litre turbo-four with 173 PS and 220 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 5,500 rpm. The L15B7 is mated to a CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Dimension wise, the hatch – which is the base for the Civic Type R – shares the same width (1,798 mm) and wheelbase (2,700 mm) as the sedan, but is taller (+20 mm) and shorter by 112 mm. The boot holds 727 litres with the rear seats down, against the booted car’s 519 litres. It’s priced at 1,169,000 baht (RM150,606) and there’s a Modulo kit available. Last year saw a Red version join the range.
What do you think of the Civic Hatchback in Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic? By the way, it’s a real Type R colour (click on the pics above for more), so creating a FK8 Type R replica is a step easier. Honda Malaysia does not think that there’s sufficient demand for the hatchback to make a business case for it in Malaysia – what say you?
