Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,400 model-year 2019 Mercedes-Benz G550 and Mercedes-AMG G63 SUVs
The Problem: The front door wiring harnesses may have been improperly routed, causing damage to the individual wires when opening and closing the front doors. This can impact safety features such as the side impact restraint system, automatic door unlocking in the event of a crash or the vehicle location in the event of an emergency call. Each scenario increases the risk of an injury in the event of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect, modify or replace the front door wiring harness in the event damage has occurred for free.
What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners Jan. 14, 2020. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
