The winners will be revealed in New York next month.
Exactly a month after revealing the finalists of the World Car of the Year at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show, the organizers of the competition are announcing the top three contenders in each category at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, where the Jaguar I-Pace grabbed the European COTY award. The “Top Three In The World” in each category was selected by a team of 86 international jurors after a secret ballot based on their personal evaluations.
These are the top three finalists in each of the six categories in alphabetic order.

The official start of this year’s global competition was given in Paris in early October last year. The final phase of the 2019 WCOTY will happen at the New York Auto Show next month (April 17), where the winners will be declared in all six categories at a special ceremony.
Just a few weeks later, at the annual London Motor Show in May, visitors will have the chance to see the contenders for next year’s competition and celebrate the winners for 2019. World Car Awards says that “The Road To World Car” doesn’t really stop – literally less than a month after the 2019 winners are revealed the contenders for 2020 will be announced.
Also, during the NY show, The Global Trends Report will be announced disclosing market trends information gathered through research across the past six months. According to its CEO, Martin Hirzel, the report is “a valuable instrument for identifying future directions and a guide for prioritizing them.”
