The folks over at Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, have clearly been watching a lot of Monty Python, because holy grille! We saw the new five-sided grille on the new flagship 2020 Genesis G90 at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, and while it’s not the only change for the new model year, it’s certainly the most significant.

The G90 has been around for three model years, and the 2020 model gets some significant design updates for its fourth, starting with that grille. It used to have a smaller, six-sided grille that gave the G90 a look similar to that of the G70 and G80, Genesis’ compact and mid-size sedans. This grille is obviously huge; it stretches nearly all the way to the ground. It’s also flanked by new headlights with horizontal LED pieces that snake nearly all the way into the front fenders.
The taillights on the G90 — arguably the most forgettable aspect of the prior-generation G90 — have been completely redone. They have a lighting element that now stretches between them (I don’t know if I’m really wild about that, though). It kind of recalls the older BMW 7 Series from the early 2000s — not exactly a good-looking car.
