With the stress on the economy due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and resulting stay-at-home orders in place across much of the country, vehicle shoppers are likely to be prioritizing affordability and Hyundai’s newest model isn’t a bad one to check out. After upgrading to an automatic transmission (a manual is standard), the 2020 Hyundai Venue costs just over $19,000.

But what is it? The 2020 Venue looks like an SUV, but it’s front-wheel drive only; it’s a little shorter and narrower than the Hyundai Kona, the automaker’s subcompact SUV. It costs over $1,700 less than the Kona.
The Venue has only one engine, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that’s also in the Accent sedan. Two transmissions are offered with the Venue: a six-speed manual available only in the base SE trim and a continuously variable automatic available on the SE and standard on SEL and Denim trims.
