Vehicles Affected: Approximately 87,000 model-year 2020 Kia Telluride SUVs equipped with adaptive cruise control
The Problem: When a trailer is connected to the SUV, the trailer brakelights will not illuminate when the adaptive cruise control system applies the brakes, which can fail to warn other drivers that the vehicle is slowing, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will install an additional wire harness to the main fuse box to signal the trailer brakelights for free.
What Owners Should Do: Kia will begin notifying owners Sept. 10. Owners can call the automaker at 800-333-4542, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
