The F-Type, a small sports car from Jaguar, has been around a while — 2021 is the current generation’s eighth model year, believe it or not — and it’s had its share of mechanical updates through that time. But this, short of a redesign, represents the F-Type’s biggest visual update. We got our first look at it in person at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show.

Those visual changes start with a new clamshell hood design and revised bumper. There’s a larger grille with a new hexagonal mesh pattern, slimmer LED headlights and updated daytime running lights. In back, the LED light clusters have a bit of a tweaked design: They’re slimmer, have a chicane light graphic and look similar to the design on the I-Pace, Jaguar’s electric SUV.
F-Type R and R-Dynamic models add specific exterior trim to present a little more visual aggression. Depending on which powertrain you choose, the design of the exhaust varies from a single central exhaust pipe to two large, round tailpipes or, all the way at the top of the F-Type model range, quad outboard tailpipes with etched “R” logos.
