BMW M4 Edition ///M Heritage revealed – only 750 units

With the 2019 German Touring Car Masters (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters or DTM) set to make its next stop at the Nürburgring, BMW has unveiled a new limited-edition model based on the M4, which competes in the racing series as the M4 Turbo DTM.

BMW calls its creation the M4 Edition ///M Heritage, and they’re only producing 750 units that will go on sale worldwide between November 2019 and April 2020. As the name implies, the model serves as a celebration of BMW M’s heritage of racing cars, so the available exterior colours are reflective of the company’s famous light blue, dark blue and red emblem.

Customers will get to choose from Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue and Imola Red, all with a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic roof that bears a decorative strip in the BMW M colours, which is integrated into the CFRP composite using a special manufacturing process. Other unique touches include the fitment of 20-inch forged M light alloy wheels in a star spoke design with an Orbit Grey matte finish.

As for the interior, the model-specific full leather M seats feature prominent openings within the area of the seatbacks and a bicolour design, the latter is dependent on the exterior colour selected.

Cars with the Laguna Seca Blue paint finish will get seats in Silverstone/Black with turquoise stitching, while Velvet Blue cars come with Velvet Blue and Orange seats. As for cars painted Imola Red, the seat colours are Red and Black, which are coupled with yellow and red contrast stitching.

Other aesthetic enhancements include the lettering “///M Heritage” – in turquoise, orange or red – on the front headrests, along with the addition of interior carbon trim strips designed exclusively for the model, which also sport BMW M colours. The interior trim strips and door sills also bear the imprints “Edition ///M Heritage” and “1/750” as a further reminder of the model’s exclusivity.

No mechanical changes here, as the limited-edition car gets the same S55 3.0 litre turbocharged straight-six as a regular M4 Competition Package. The mill pushes out 450 PS (444 hp) and 550 Nm of torque, and is paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
