BMW X6 Spied Showing Some More Of Its Details On The Nürburgring

The new X6’s debut probably isn’t too far away, either.

The next-gen BMW X6 has been spied lapping the Nürburgring again, and the engineers stripped off a little more camouflage off the roof and fenders this time. There’s also a chance to see the new one with the existing X6 M for a chance to compare the changes.

The new X6 looks a whole lot like the existing one. Up front, it adopts the larger grille from the X7 and new 7 Series. A revised roofline provides an even sleeker silhouette by making the lip even smaller where the trunk opening transitions downward.

On the inside, the X6 wears BMW’s current style of pairing a digital instrument cluster with a wide infotainment display on top of the center stack. The screens’ positioning makes it easy for a driver’s eye flow from one to the other without needing to adjust much. Physical controls for the HVAC system and radio are also on the stack. The iDrive controller is next to the gearshift on the console.

Under the hood, we believe this X6 packs BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. In this trim, expect the mill to offer around 523 horsepower (390 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton-meters) of torque. The full-bore X6 M would use a tuned version of this engine with an output around 600 hp (447 kW). Folks in Europe who prefer a diesel could get the X6 M50d with a quad-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six making 394 hp (294 kW) and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm). A plug-in hybrid powertrain would also provide an option for buyers looking to maximize fuel economy.

Look for the X6 to debut before the end of the summer and be on sale in some markets before the end of the year. The M version should arrive about a year after the standard models arrive in showrooms.
