Buick Velite 6 Plus gets more power (110 kW) and battery capacity (52.5 kWh), but stays below $30,000 after incentives.
Buick just launched a second, more-capable all-electric version of the Velite 6 multi-activity vehicle (MAV) in China.
The entry-level Velite 6 BEV introduced in April 2019 was equipped with a 35 kWh battery pack, good for 301 km (187 miles) NEDC, and an 85 kW electric motor.
The new one – Buick Velite 6 Plus – is equipped with a 52.5 kWh battery pack and a 110 kW electric motor for up to 410 km (255 miles) NEDC, but it’s also some 135 kg heavier (1,675 kg).
“The original VELITE 6 MAV was launched in April with an electric driving range of 301 kilometers. As Buick’s first global all-electric vehicle and SAIC-GM’s first electric vehicle for the mass market, the VELITE 6 integrates resources and advanced technology from GM and SAIC for new energy and connected vehicles. It represents the latest application of the Buick Blue strategy.”
Buick list also tons of safety features:
“With safety as a priority, the VELITE 6 PLUS comes with a range of advanced technologies, including six air bags, Forward Collision Alert (FCA), Collision Mitigation Braking (CMB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA), Bosch’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). In addition, it has a 10-inch touch-sensing center console and supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, Super ID and a virtual key.”
“VELITE 6 customers are entitled to 100G of free OnStar 4G LTE data service every year. The warranty remains effective if the vehicle’s ownership changes, ensuring a high residual value.”
It will be quite interesting to see how GM’s brand will cope with BEV sales. Currently, the Velite 6 will be sold after national subsidies at:
