Motor Show Events are returning to the car show circuit with their Festival of Wheels event this weekend (31 July – 1 August) in Ipswich. This is set to be their first proper car show since before the pandemic and their first show in any capacity since Bonfire Night last November.
The festival will contain four arenas, all decked out with a range of cars and other entertainment for the returning fans.
James Martin is the creative director for Motor Show Events and spoke of the hardships of the past 18 months.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “It’s been a hell of a rollercoaster ride for us, and we’ve had to postpone and postpone and postpone.
“The car industry and the general public have been amazing in having to reschedule.
“From a business point of view, when the first lockdown came in, that hit us quite hard.
“When you’re booking stuff for 2022 and 2023 and you’re paying out large amount of deposits, that cash has to come from somewhere, and that’s usually ticket sales.
“Then you’ve got to get refunds going, so that was a real rocky ride.
“We nearly went bankrupt a couple of times, but we managed to get the bounce back loan and we’ve got through.

“The audience and our supporters have been amazing and have managed to carry us through.
“It’s the sheer amount of support from the fans that we’ve managed to, through the skin of our teeth, to come through it.”
Their upcoming event, Festival of Wheels 2021, is set to feature thousands of cars, from British vintage classics to supercars worth millions.
The event will be showcasing vehicles of all shapes and sizes, with a special low rider display, motorbike stunts and monster trucks.
