It’s been pretty hard to miss that there’s no motorsport on the TV right now. With teams, drivers, broadcasters, and fans all stuck at home, racing is impossible. The virtual world has been filling in, but there’s only so much it can do.
Formula One has stepped up to the plate, with a surprising offer. Anyone who signs up to its F1 TV streaming service right now gets totally free access for the 30 days.
F1 TV boasts 1,400 hours of F1-related programs. That covers not only full race replays and highlights shows, but also access to the entire historic race archive. There’s also replays available for select support races, including F2, F3 and Porsche Supercup.
Although not likely to be of much use at the moment, with all grands prix up to the French GP in June already cancelled, F1 TV also offers live leaderboard data, real-time telemetry, driver maps and some team radio (avoiding any communication mishaps) via the F1 app. The F1 TV Pro upgrade also adds full live streams of races, race sessions, and support races.
There’s additional unique programming too, with features on drivers and team members. At the moment F1 TV is also showing some special clips dedicated to the life of Sir Stirling Moss, who died earlier this week at the age of 90.

Generally the subscription costs $2.99 (£2.29) for a month, but anyone who signs up for the service now gets that first 30 days free. All you have to do is visit F1 TV and click on “Subscribe” to get the free month option. There are some geographical restrictions, but these mainly apply to F1 TV Pro. The basic package is a largely global service.
One note of caution however. You will need to enter card details when you sign up, which also means you will need to remember to cancel it before your 30 days comes to an end in order to prevent automatic renewal.
