The UK has been stung by fuel shortages over the past few days, with many drivers queuing outside petrol stations trying to fill up. Politicians have attempted to play down the shortages, with many including Grant Shapps, saying they would “move heaven and earth” to sort the issues out.
There have also been reports of people panic buying petrol.
Despite this, experts at FairFuelUK have condemned the Government for not doing enough to prevent the fuel crisis from happening.
Their founder, Howard Cox, said: “Today’s ‘fuel shortage crisis’ is totally down to DfT’s un-reactive and tardy approach to the chronic HGV driver huge deficiency, impacting as we predicted on forecourt deliveries even before the current predicament.
“And here’s the thing, pump prices will rise in direct relation to the ‘don’t panic’ scaremongering messages from this clueless Government.
“FairFuelUK sees pump prices rising 3p plus per litre over the next few weeks, maybe even more.
“Unfortunately, we are already seeing queues outside garages with rattled drivers determined to make sure their vehicles are filled to the brim.
“Several garages have contacted FairFuelUK in confidence, saying their wholesalers are pushing up bulk supply prices, not based on oil costs, but because of this latest panic demand.
“Some are saying there will have to be rationing causing more conflict at their pumps.

“Totally unnecessary, as there is no fuel supply issue, just that perennial driver shortage.
“The Tories are no longer the driver’s friend!”
FairFuelUK released a document last month, which called on the Government to scrap its plans to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2030.
They argued it would create a black hole of around £35billion as a result of the loss of fuel duty and VAT.
