Honda has now officially confirmed the name of the Urban EV Concept car – the Honda e. The electric car was first unveiled to the public in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and captured their imagination with a futuristic electric car in a retro silhouette. It sports a design which takes inspiration for the Civic Mk1 but completely modernised with a huge widescreen interior display, glossy flat grille and LED accents across its body. Overall the design is minimal and this even includes the omission of traditional wing mirrors.
They are replaced by two high-quality cameras which beam a feed directly onto the two outer screens on the car’s dashboard.
A production-ready version of the car was unveiled earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, which showed a car true to the concept but with a less boxy overall exterior.
It will benefit from a dedicated EV platform and Honda says it ‘takes a bold step with its design and technology’.
While the car’s power specs, battery size have not been confirmed yet the vehicle with be rear-wheel drive.
According to information on the company’s website, it will also have over 125-miles of range on a single charge which will be plenty for its drivers.
If you need to travel long distances the car can also be charged to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.
The car will be available to reserve in early in summer 2019.
Honda has also confirmed the next generation Jazz will be offered with a hybrid powertrain variant.
It will use the same i-MMD hybrid system that is used in the new CR-V Hybrid.
