It might seem like we say this every year: This is the HOT ROD Power Tour you must attend. And we’ve meant it all those times. But 2019 is truly epic-historic—it’s the event’s 25th anniversary! Can you believe the world’s largest traveling car show is turning a quarter-century old? See, you really must attend.
June 8–14 is this year’s HOT ROD Power Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance and Driven by Continental, and we’re already forecasting that we’ll have more than 6,000 vehicles and 100,000-plus spectators over the seven-day, seven-city road trip, which kicks off on June 8 at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina.
From there, we have a packed schedule, including a few firsts: We’ve never been to Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia, and that’s happening on June 9. On June 10, it’s off to Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee, also a first for Power Tour. Another new stop is Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky, on June 11. June 12 is Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, while June 13 takes us to Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for the first time. The last stop of Power Tour is June 14 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
You can join us at any point during the 1,500-mile route, or you can be one of our Long Haulers and attend the full Power Tour with the HOT ROD editors and staff. Come for just one or all the days!
Are you new to the concept of Power Tour? It’s like the longest and best car cruise you could ever think of attending. The road trip includes all types of hot rods, muscle cars, street cars, custom trucks—any car or truck owner is welcome to travel cross country with us. On top of that, there are also dragstrip days with fun runs and autocross, plus we’ll have dyno competitions (a dyno will be at every stop for participants), aftermarket manufacturers, music, tons of activities, plus the best car show you can imagine at each stop (heck, even gas stops are significantly awesome for the eyes). Also, Bristol Motor Speedway will offer laps around the oval.
As we said when we first introduced Power Tour to our readers 25 years ago, “Join us on our Power Tour. We’re driving several of our project vehicles and personal cars from Los Angeles to Norwalk, Ohio…The trip should be a blast, and we want a bunch of you to join us.” Same deal today. Power Tour is a great opportunity to sightsee, explore America’s backroads, get your car seen by people all across the U.S., experience the camaraderie of gearheads and enthusiasts, and soak up the hot rodding culture. Your car might even end up in HOT ROD magazine or on HOTROD.com, too. And you get bragging rights for being on Power Tour—remember, this is the big silver anniversary!
As always, thank you to Chevrolet Performance, Continental Tires, and all our sponsors for making an event of this magnitude possible.
