Reaching a million miles is a feat that usually takes a long-haul trucker eight to ten years; for a delivery driver in a small passenger car reaching this mileage is exceedingly rare. But that's exactly what one driver in Olathe, Kansas, was able to do in just five years in her 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Yes, that works out to an average of 200,000 miles a year or about 3,800 miles a week, which Farrah Haines has been able to accomplish by delivering auto parts and products in her own sedan. Haines drives seven days a week, night and day.
"My Hyundai has been a great car to me," Haines said. "I love to drive and have made a successful career out of it, so it was no surprise that I was able to get to a million miles. The key is to prioritize regular maintenance and to have a quality vehicle."
To verify the record, Hyundai sent a team of technicians to inspect the car's systems, service records, dealer history and engine block numbers. Hyundai not only presented Haines with a 1 Million Mile emblem to add to the odometer — an actual Hyundai part — but also set up a surprise party in which she received a much larger gift.
