Infiniti will give shoppers a peek at the future of its electric vehicles during the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit with its new QX Inspiration concept. Details are slim, but the grille-less concept car looks to be an electric SUV sized to rival the Tesla Model X.
In a statement, Infiniti said the new concept represents the automaker's "plans for high-performance electrified vehicles, offering complete range confidence while signaling a new era for Infiniti design enabled by new technology." It's got a long way to go; while parent company Nissan has the Leaf, the Infiniti luxury brand's only hybrid vehicle, the QX60 Hybrid, was canceled after a brief run due to slow sales — though Infiniti is no stranger to electric concept cars.

Will this vehicle make it past the pie-in-the-sky concept phase? It's likely. Infiniti announced last year that it plans to introduce new vehicles with electrified powertrains starting in 2021. It also promised that electrified vehicles will comprise more than half of the brand's global sales by 2025.
Infiniti will pull the wraps off the SUV on Jan. 14 at the Detroit show. As usual, we'll have a team of automotive journalists on site covering all the action, so check back for more information.
