Kia Habanero Concept car debuts with huge range and radical design

Kia has stunned crowds at the New York Motor Show 2019 with the debut of the all-new HabaNiro Concept car.

HabaNiro is a design subject which is a vision for the future of electrified vehicles from Kia.

The four-seater SUV car is fully electric and has all-wheel drive and will have autonomous driving features.

Power for the e-AWD is supplied by two electric motors one at the front and one at the rear and the battery pack produces over 300-miles of range.

It also sports a radical design in its compact crossover proportions. The car has smooth uninterrupted cures around the top, sides, rear and bonnet.

At the front and along the side are some metallic cladding and a Lava red panel and accents across areas of the body.

Kia says the car’s grille “resembles a shark’s snout, complete with a slit-like gap full of gloss black aluminium “teeth” similar.”

Perhaps the most striking feature of the car is the butterfly-wing doors which own out at the middle which allows better access to the cabin.

The interior is finished in the same lava red and metallic detailing as the exterior. There is ample room for the four occupants LED floor detailing, a widescreen dismal and U-shaped steering wheel.

There is also a slim Perimeter Ventilation System (PVS) that quietly and evenly blows a curtain of air throughout the cabin.

The car also has part-time level-five autonomous driving system, which when it is engaged the steering wheel and instrument panel retract forward to provide more room for the front occupants.

“We wanted this concept to be comfortable navigating city streets, carving turns on a coastal road and off-roading with confidence to remote wilderness adventures,” said Tom Kearns, Vice President of Design for Kia Design Center America (KDCA).

“We imagined a car for everyone and nearly everything.

“Then, when we saw the finished product, we were blown away by the imagination of the HabaNiro’s creators and its laboratory of technology and we want it in our driveways. Today.”

“We couldn’t be more proud of our design center,” says Michael Cole, KMA Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President.

“The HabaNiro is a genius work of skill and imagination. Not only does its beautiful design incorporate the needs of future mobility, but its engineering and technology anticipate the way people will want to move in the near future.”
