Police in the Seattle area say that there has been a recent increase in thieves using LimePod carsharing vehicles as getaway cars, KIRO7 reports.
The latest reported theft, which happened on Memorial Day, involved a suspected thief taking packages from mailboxes while driving a Lime vehicle. A neighbor caught the theft on his home surveillence system.
Officials told the news outlet this is not an isolated incident.
“Suspects have been renting Lime Cars to facilitate porch thefts and burglaries in the Northtown area. Several thefts have occurred in the past week," according to the Bellevue Police Blotter.
There are about 1,500 Lime carsharing vehicles in the Seattle area.
