The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV, which made its debut in Geneva, will debut as a series-production vehicle in Frankfurt later this year. Ahead of that, the automaker gave the study its first public drive last week in Barcelona.
The full-electric MPV, which is based on the W447 V-Class facelift, features a compact electric drivetrain (eATS) on the front axle, and integrates the electric motor, the transmission (with fixed transmission ratios), the cooling system and the power electronics in a compact housing.
The drivetrain offers 150 kw of output, and juiced by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is housed in the vehicle’s underfloor, the EQV has a maximum operating range of up to 400 km. An integrated rapid charging function means that sufficient energy for approximately 100 km of travel can be provides in just 15 minutes. The EQV has a 160 km/h top speed.
The MPV can be specified as a six-seater with premium seating or with seven or eight seats for use as a heavy-duty family people mover. Design cues that differentiate it from a regular V-Class include a high-tech silver exterior, LED headlamps, a radiator grille with chrome inserts and an LED band as well as a dedicated 19-inch light-alloy wheel design.
Inside, to highlight its electric underpinnings, there’s plenty of blue on show, from Midnight Blue leather for the dashboard and dark-blue elements on the seat backrests – in combination with black nappa leather for the cushions – and blue nappa leather for the armrests.
Rose gold on the infotainment and sound system frame components provides subtle contrast, as does rose gold top-stitching for the upholstery. Series production customers can expect to see a MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system on the kit list.
