Mitsubishi Xpander Cross revealed – SUV-style MPV

Mitsubishi has revealed the new Xpander Cross, which is an SUV-inspired version of its seven-seat MPV that will be produced at the company’s Krama Yudha plant in Cikarang, Indonesia. The model will go on sale in Indonesia from tomorrow before being exported to other markets in the ASEAN region.

Design-wise, the Xpander Cross is identified by a more rugged take on its Dynamic Shield face, which features a new grille design as well as a more robust-looking skid plate that incorporates the LED fog lamps in the bumper. There’s also black body cladding applied in the lower apron, which extends over the wheel arches and across the doors before wrapping around the rear bumper.

These add-ons contribute to a body that is 50 mm wider than the standard Xpander, with other changes being larger-profile tyres wrapped around 17-inch alloy wheels, silver-coloured roof rails, a large skid plate at the rear and a black tailgate garnish under the rear window. To reinforce the model’s ruggedness, the Xpander Cross also has a ground clearance of 225 mm, which is 20 mm higher than the regular model.

With the debut of the Xpander Cross, two new exterior finishes have also been introduced for the Xpander, including Graphite Grey and Sunrise Orange – the latter being exclusive to the new model. Both are available with black/brown combination interior with silver mesh decorative trim.

No changes under the bonnet, as the 4A91 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine continues to serve up 105 PS and 141 Nm of torque, with drive going to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
