Motorist puts warning sign to drivers about ‘outdoor swimming pool’

A motorist fed up with driving past a pothole that constantly fills up with water has made a comedic sign to highlight the dangerous crater.

The sarcastic sign has been put up on a grass verge along a dual carriageway, with many of its letters coloured red to alert drivers to the wide hazard.

The pothole has formed on the southbound carriageway of the A34, near the roundabout leading to Trentham Monkey Forest, just north of Tittensor, Staffordshire.

The sign, spotted by a motorist driving along the A34, reads: “Warning – pothole under construction as your new local outdoor swimming pool!!!.”, reports StokeonTrentLive.

It is understood the pothole falls under the remit of the highways authority, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, which has been approached for comment by Express Online.

People took to StokeonTrentLive’s Facebook page to share their views on Staffordshire’s roads.

One person commented: “This council should be embarrassed by the state of these roads in this so called city absolute joke”.

“The potholes are big, deep and dangerous.Totally unacceptable,” wrote another.

A third added: “Our roads are terrible. I drive to Telford for work between A50 via Stone and onwards it’s like cat and mouse who can avoid potholes first.

“Ruined all my tyres at a cost of £700 to replace. I only had two tyres changed last summer.

“The council are quick enough to put up the council tax.”

However, some people had a different outlook on potholes.

One person wrote: “So many people complain about the potholes in the roads. They are all over the UK.

“If they slowed down a little and anticipated avoiding the potholes safely then there would be so much less stress.

“Stop moaning, life is too short.”

“Just drive less, potholes instantly stop being a problem,” said another.
