Netherlands: Vattenfall And Hyundai Team Up On EV Charging

One-shop-stop for charging solutions when buying a new electric car.

Vattenfall and Hyundai announced a new partnership in the Dutch market to jointly offer home/work charging and public charging solution for Hyundai’s customers. Additionally, they are working on a proposition to supply renewable electricity.

Soon, Hyundai dealers will be offering purchase of a 22 kW (3-phase) charging point and access card to the public charging network from Vattenfall.

“The charging box – a complete all-in-one package – is installed at the customer’s home or at business premises so that both electric driving and charging is carefree. With the charge card supplied by Vattenfall, the driver of an electric Hyundai can also charge on the go at public InCharge charging stations.”

The plan envisions a supply of t housand of charging stations for Hyundai in 2020 alone, which clearly shows how important such deals might be for charging network operators/electricity suppliers.

We know that the Hyundai Kona Electric in Europe is equipped with a 11 kW (3-phase) on-board charger, so the 22 kW will be a future-proof unit. The South Korean manufacturer is expected to introduce new models with 22 kW onboard chargers to fully utilize the charging point potential:

“The charging point is also suitable for new Hyundai models that will be delivered with even higher charging speeds.”

The Vattenfall’s InCharge network currently includes 16,000 points in Northern Europe (the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Norway).
