Looking for a new automotive TV show that doesn’t rely on the same old jokes and tropes? Have we got a good one for you: Proving Grounds, debuting on NBCSN later this month and featuring our own Sam Smith as co-host.
That’s right: Sam Smith, your favorite goofball who writes for Road & Track, is co-hosting this new show alongside NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman and champion sports car racer Leh Keen. Together, the trio will test a whole variety of vehicles, from supercars to muscle machines to off-roaders and even a minivan and a police cruiser.
Inspired by the car-centric action TV shows of the 1980s and 1990s, Proving Grounds is a fun new take on the traditional car review show. And with Smith, Kligerman and Keen on hand, you know there will be some shredded tires and wicked oversteer.
Here, just have a look at this preview:
Proving Grounds debuts on Sunday, October 21 at 7:30pm Eastern on NBCSN, immediately following the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race coverage at Kansas Speedway. The five-episode series will air every Sunday after that, right after NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race coverage. You’re gonna love it.
