Many businesses have had to close due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, petrol stations are one of the facilities that have been granted permission to stay open during the UK’s lockdown.
Are petrol stations open on Easter Sunday?
On the whole, petrol stations across the UK will remain open on Easter Sunday.
However, alternative opening hours may be in effect and some branches may be closed so you should check with your local station beforehand if you need to fill up.
Most motorway and A-road service areas also continue to remain open.

Motorway Services Online said: “There has been no suggestion that service stations will have to close, although things do keep changing quickly.
“At the most, it is more likely that a few individual service stations will have to close due to localised issues.
“These closures will be reported on the electronic signs above the motorway (where available).
“It is likely that some of the very small A-road service stations will close earlier than normal, without fanfare.

Under the current government guidelines, only essential travel is permitted during the lockdown.
People have been advised not to leave their homes unless they are critical workers, shopping for essential household goods, exercising once per day or in need of medical attention.
While filling stations remain open for the time being, the Petrol Retailers Association expects many branches will be forced to close soon due to the lack of business.
“Many petrol stations will have to close in the coming weeks, as sales of fuel dry up and their businesses become unviable,” the PRA said in a statement.
Fuel prices have also plummeted over the past week as the UK abides by the lockdown measures.
RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said: “While fuel prices are at a three-and-half-year low, not many drivers are able to take advantage of them.
“We would normally be calling for prices to be reduced further due to the low price of oil.
“But in these unprecedented times we would urge people to support smaller independent fuel retailers in more rural locations otherwise they may end up losing them, to their future detriment.”
