More rental car options are on the way for travelers at Portland International Airport, as the Port of Portland Commission today awarded 20-year contracts with five rental car entities representing 12 brands.
Three new brands will include Enterprise CarShare and Zipcar, bringing carsharing options to the airport; plus, Sixt Rent a Car. The other nine brands include Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental, Alamo Rent A Car, Hertz Car Rental, Thrifty Car Rental, Avis Car Rental, Budget Car Rental, Payless Car Rental, and Dollar Rent A Car.
“Rental cars will remain within walking distance of the airport terminal, making them convenient for travelers, and reducing shuttle traffic,” Shane Andreasen, senior manager of concessions development for the Port, said in a statement.
Contracts are effective immediately but commence when a new shared rental car and parking facility opens in late 2021. The facility will feature flexible design options, allowing response to future changes in the ground transportation industry.
