Protean Electric further expanded its in-wheel drive unit making it capable of 360-degree steering
The Protean360+ electric drive corner module combines ProteanDrive in-wheel motor (a direct drive permanent-magnet synchronous motor, inverter, dedicated liquid cooling circuit, friction brake disc and caliper) with special steering and suspension system, which allows for continuous steering through 360 degrees (independently for each wheel).
In result, Protean Electric opens a new chapter for electric (and autonomous) commercial applications, offering 360-degree steering capability and unmatched maneuverability. As you can see in the video, having Protean360+ allows not only to drive sideways but also to rotate in place.

Each ProteanDrive Pd18 motor is rated for 80 kW and 1,250 Nm (at the wheel), which means that having four translates to 320 kW of power and 5,000 Nm of torque – enough for commercial vehicles in cities.
The air-suspension allows also for ride-height so passengers would get stepless curb-to-vehicle access.
Now we are eager to see first vehicles with Protean360+ on the road.
