New models normally get introduced in extravagant events, or during press conferences at big auto shows, where pretty much nobody will actually get to see it in person. To give the RS 6 Avant its U.S. debut, Audi’s doing something a bit different: They’re taking it to a very non-extravagant event where a few real people will actually get to see it in person.
The U.S. debut for the RS 6 Avant will be at Cars and Coffee Malibu, this Sunday. IT’ll be on display from 7 am to 9 am for anyone who wants to come down and take a look while they sip on a cup of warm brown water. Of course, the coffee itself is probably optional. It’s a unique way, though, for Audi to get enthusiasts up close and personal with the wagon, which will then be on display during the LA auto show the following weeks.
“Audi has a strong heritage in exciting wagon-fans around the world that have, over many years, been drawn to their design, performance and no-compromise character,” said Filip Brabec, vice president Product Management, Audi of America. “The passionate response of U.S. customers eagerly awaiting this car was the number one reason we chose to debut the RS 6 Avant to our fans and enthusiasts first.”
The wagon, in case you’ve forgotten, is a 600 hp monster family hauler thanks to a 4.0L twin-turbo V8, an eight-speed automatic, and quattro all-wheel drive. It’s also loaded with RS bits like a roof spoiler, more prominent grille, and a revised interior. The RS 6 Avant for customers is set to arrive sometime next year.
