People like buying things in bulk. Entire chains, like Costco and BJ’s, have sprung up for consumers who like the savings that come with buying things in massive quantities. And you can get lots of things in bulk—toilet paper, Haribo gummi bears, and Callaway Corvettes.
No, really. There’s someone in Texas selling their collection of six Callaway Corvettes as a package. The collection consists of a Corvette for every model year between 1986 and 1991, and the seller is looking for $995,000. If nothing else, it’s a unique opportunity, and perhaps a good one if you’re in serious need of a bunch of Callaway Corvettes in short order.
Each of the six is equipped with a twin-turbo V-8 and a manual transmission, and all but one have under 10,000 miles on the clock. Half are coupes and half are convertibles, and save for the silver 1986, all are either black or red. The cars appear to be in good condition, but they’re expensive. Especially when you consider that just last week, RM Sotheby’s auctioned a 1988 Callaway Twin-Turbo convertible in similar condition for $56,000.
So much for a bulk discount, then.
The seller is also offering four individual Callaway Corvettes, the most expensive of which is a 1989 convertible listed for $75,000. Asking price for the others is $65,000 each. Also of note in this listing is a C5 Corvette convertible with a folding hardtop, apparently one of two in existence. The seller wants $125,000 for that one, about $100,000 more than what a similar car was listed for last year.
