Our spy photographers have captured images of the next Audi RS Q3 testing in the open again, this time in Sweden for cold weather trials, where the eventual product will go up against the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45. Bit by bit, the disguise is coming off, and we now get to see a bit more of its exterior.
As sighted previously, the RS Q3 development vehicle wears a grille that can be expected to appear with greater frequency on future Audi models, along with larger side intakes in its front bumper. A lower ride height is complemented by what appears to be six-piston brake calipers with ceramic brake discs, while the rear end gets a larger roof spoiler as well as the signature RS oval exhaust outlets.
Motive power for Audi’s high-performance crossover will come courtesy of the firm’s turbocharged five-cylinder engine, and is likely to be tuned for outputs in excess of 400 hp. With news suggesting that the soon-to-arrive, next-generation AMG A 45 will get 421 hp in peak ‘S’ form, the corresponding GLA may follow suit, and Audi will surely be looking to climb clear of its competitors.
All-wheel-drive is a given, and the RS Q3 will most likely continue to send the engine’s prodigious outputs to the wheels via a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
