Suzuki has introduced the new Jimny Sierra Pick-up Style concept at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, and while an exciting prospect, the Japanese carmaker has no plans to put such a variant into production.
That’s really a shame because just look at it! What the company has done is take a regular Jimny, rip out the rear seats, and remove parts of the roof for the bed. The end result is a Jimny ute, although its carrying capability is somewhat limited compared to a conventional pick-up.
Aside from redesigning the body, the concept also gets other modifications to spruce it up further, including faux wood panels that bear the Jimny’s rhino symbol and a new grille that features honeycomb meshing.
For added ruggedness, the Jimny ute also gets metal step plates, side steps, a roll hoop, a light bar, tow hooks and chunky tyres. The last item is paired with retro wheels with chrome hubcaps and a white finish, the latter also found on the vehicle’s roof.
The Jimny concept represents a good blend of retro and modern styling influences, and we hope a tuning company gets to work to create one you can buy, even if Suzuki won’t.
